Course Description:
The sustainability of our planet is being addressed by cities and universities across the world in a multitude of ways that Americans can benefit from learning about. In this class, students will research and evaluate how British cities and universities are innovating with sustainability efforts in such areas as transportation, food supply, greenspace and work-life balance. Our interdisciplinary approach will be focused on London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, the Isle of Wight, and selected British universities. Students will be responsible for assessments comparing British plans for sustainability with American initiatives and a photo journal illustrating the insights they have gained through this exposure to British sustainability endeavors.

Prerequisites:
Sophomore level for undergraduate level. Completion of a bachelors degree for graduate level.

Physical Activity Requirements:
On average: 3 to 5 miles of walking. Wear real shoes - the city streets of London are rugged in and of themselves; flip-flops thin sandals or ballet flatsare not allowed on field trip events. We will spend time out in the weather not just in moving from venue to venue. Some of our activities take place outside and in whatever weather is happening that day. July in London is often sunny and even hot but youll still need to bring an umbrella with you.
