History of Western Art in London Museums

Course Description:
Experience the History of Western Art chronologically through personal visits to historic sites, castles, cathedrals, and museums in London! Start with a visit to Neolithic Stonehenge, then continue through the Ancient Near East, Egypt, Greece and Rome at the British Museum. The Middle Ages will come alive at Dover Castle and Canterbury Cathedral, and you can study Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassical and Romantic paintings at the National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery. We will end at the Tate Modern to experience 20th and 21st century works of art. Plus we will visit the Victoria & Albert Museum, St. Paul's Cathedral, London Bridge, and more, including a live theater production!


Physical Activity Requirements:
At minimum 5 miles a day walking. Plus it will be cold and usually wet/damp. There are some excursions (Stonehenge, Dover Castle, Canterbury) in which we are outdoors most of the time, even in inclement weather
