We kick off our London programs next week when the first set of adventurers arrives on July 18. During the following three weeks, students, faculty, on-site administrators, and guests will spend their time in and around London.

My own journey began July 10, when I flew from Nashville to Houston, then to London. Only a thunderstorm delayed my flight out of Houston so I was lucky when you hear all the airport stories.

This first days were spent reconnecting with our London friends who we’ve not seen in three years. And from London and and Stateside, the CCSA team and London Mid-Summer admins are finishing up those last minute details to make arrivals and the first days of classes go smoothly so we can get into a routine of teaching and learning in our classroom – the London metro area and other parts of England. Faculty and students began their “know before you go” segment of their courses last week so students have been covering a lot of course content to be ready to apply these lessons learned to the real-world.

The London Mid-Summer will reside at St. Giles Hotel near Tottenham Court Station. We’re between the Fitzrovia and Soho areas; just a stone’s throw from the British Museum and theater district. Oxford Street is a bit heavy on tourists, but we do have easy access to the Northern Line to escape the crowds and get some real learning in.

The England Multimedia group will reside at St. Giles for the first week, then relocate to the London School of Economics – Bankside residence for two more weeks. Here the London Summer group will join them for their two-week on-site portion of their courses.

The LSE – Bankside location puts our group near Borough Market and London Bridge Station, near the Globe and the Thames – right along South Bank. So good eats and easy transport.

Our full roster of over 120 people continues our rebuilding after these long years of postponement.

We do all this for the students, so they can experience the world beyond that which they see everyday. Global learning requires that extra effort, and our students, from 29-member institutions and several non-member schools, have already shown that they wish to make the most of this opportunity.

A huge shout-out the the faculty and admins who’ve kept their focus during the year-long prep for this summer. And to our member institution partners, who represent and support CCSA at their school.

But don’t loose sight of that fact the CCSA would not be here today if not for the efforts and commitment of our small CCSA Team. Robert Bedard, Robin Byerly, Stephen Farley, Casey Hindman, and Jeffrey Williams They held it all together during our dark days of the pandemic and now the light at the end of the tunnel is sunshine (not an oncoming train).

We proceed more than cautiously optimistic yet aware that we must remain focused on what we’re about:
