Ireland is always a popular destination for students. Ireland offers age-old beauty coupled with 21st century global learning opportunities. Other than preparing yourself for driving the “wrong way” (for those who can’t handle it), a journey to Ireland is straightforward, yet upon arrival you know you are no longer in the States.

As one of CCSA’s longest-running programs, “Ireland Early” (as it was called for many years) kicks off our European programs each summer.

The program emphasizes mobility and comparison. We spend the first days in Dublin, capital of the Republic of Ireland, then travel to Belfast, crossing a major border — between countries and political boundaries (read UK and EU). In Northern Ireland, the group travels to the northern coast through Derry to the Giant’s Causeway, before returning to Eire and historic Sligo. We then head west to Galway and the Cliffs of Moher, before returning to Dublin.

This “moving” program presents challenges and opportunities for students and teachers alike. The five classes offer everything from faeries and witches to classic Irish literature along with comparative healthcare and exploring cultural divides – old and new. And don’t forget Ireland’s greatest draw – tourism — as we take a look at our own “selfies” and how we document our experiences. Each course stands on its own, while taking advantage of the many learning locations in Ireland.

CCSA’s application deadline is February 25, 2022. The early application (with $100 discount) ends February 4, 2022.

Students are encouraged to apply early so we can keep them updated on any changes in either location.
