Afterward, travel north to Edinburgh for a week of exploration in Scotland's capital. Nestled among breathtaking landscapes, this city invites you to delve into its rich literary traditions, stunning architecture, and vibrant festivals. Wander the historic Royal Mile, visit the iconic Edinburgh Castle, and enjoy the warmth of the local community.

Due to our Edinburgh accommodations, all participants must be at least 18 years old at the time of travel.

What is included in CCSA's Program Fee?

(Note that there may be some variations between programs.)

  • A three- or four-credit hour course
  • Cultural and class-related activities
  • Housing in double rooms or shared student accommodations
  • One meal daily, usually breakfast
  • Pre-departure advising and orientation
  • On-site orientation and administration by CCSA Program Directors
  • 24/7 emergency contact on-site and U.S.-based support
  • International health and travel delay insurance
  • At least one day trip outside of the program base
  • For programs with dual country locations: one-way flights between thw two sites (eg: London & Dublin, London & Edinburgh)
  • Partial payment of on-site public transportation costs, where applicable

Accommodations
In London, enjoy accommodations in a prime location that places you at the center of the city’s dynamic culture. With renowned landmarks and an array of tube stations within walking distance, you'll have the best of London right at your fingertips, making it easy to explore the city's rich history and vibrant neighborhoods. London hotel accommodations primarily feature double occupancy, with occasional triple rooms available. Single accommodations can be arranged at an additional cost.
In Edinburgh, stay in the heart of the city, surrounded by popular sites, historic landmarks, and the lively atmosphere of the Royal Mile. With convenient access to public transportation, exploring Edinburgh's rich heritage and stunning landscapes is a breeze.

Full Day Excursion "Ancient British History"

Join us in a day of exploring two phenomenal Stone Circles located in northern Wiltshire.

Your exploration into the past begins in the medieval village of Avebury, where you’ll encounter the world’s largest stone circle, surrounded by other significant monuments, including a cove and two smaller circles. After your guided tour of the Stone Circles, you'll visit the Alexander Keiller Museum, which offers deeper insight into the site’s history. Afterward, you'll have free time to wander the village at your own pace and get lunch at one of the traditional village pubs.

Next, uncover the fascinating story of Stonehenge, one of the most significant prehistoric sites in Britain, attracting visitors for centuries. As perhaps the most important ancient monument in the country, Stonehenge stands as a powerful symbol of human ingenuity, creativity, and imagination. During your visit, you’ll have the chance to explore a world-class exhibition and immerse yourself in the mysteries surrounding the expansive Stonehenge landscape, gaining insight into the remarkable history and cultural significance of this ancient wonder.

Guilherme Silva Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Dr. Silva moved to the US in the year 2000. He has traveled extensively. After crossing the South Atlantic Ocean as a crew member on a sailing boat, he lived in Cape Town.

Group or Individual Travel Allowed

Option One - Group Travel

Travel together with faculty, staff and other participants from your CCSA program with our group travel. CCSA will purchase a airline ticket from select U.S. cities on your behalf. The airline cost will be included in your final bill from CCSA. In addition to the flight, you will also receive transport to/from the accommodation in the destination city and the airport.

You can check our currently available departure cities on our departures page CCSA highly recommends this option for those new to international travel.

Includes:
  • roundtrip air transportation from one of CCSA's designated U.S. departure cities.
  • roundtrip ground transportation between airport and the accommodation site.
  • CCSA faculty and staff to guide you through the immigration and customs process.

Option Two - Individual Travel

If you wish to make independent travel arrangements and depart from a city not listed or travel outside the program dates please choose INDEPENDENT TRAVEL from the selection below. You will book your own flights and arrange your own transportation to/from the airport and the accommodation site of the program. This is a great option for going early, staying late, or using airline miles to purchase tickets. We highly recommend participants not fly standby for these programs as a late arrival may negatively impact your grade.

Important Note for Independent Travelers: Please be aware that your check-in date may be up to 24 hours AFTER the program start date (program dates include travel time).

This class invites you on an exhilarating journey through the cultural heartbeat of London and Edinburgh, where you'll explore world-class museums, contemporary art galleries, and vibrant neighborhoods. Experience art in formal settings at renowned institutions like London's National Gallery, the British Museum, and Tate Modern, as well as Edinburgh's National Gallery of Art and National Museum.
But that's just the beginning! We'll dive into the contemporary art scene by venturing into local galleries, engaging with artists, and discovering art in unconventional settings. From captivating murals to talented street performers, you'll immerse yourself in a rich tapestry of local colors and flavors that bring these cities to life.
No prior art experience is necessary to participate, making this class accessible for students from all majors. You'll develop skills to analyze and interpret themes in art throughout history while drawing inspiration from an unparalleled range of visual experiences. Fantasy, Myth & Legend: London & Edinburgh

Expand your worldview as you experience the world of "Fantasy, Myth, and Legend" in two of our most iconic cities: London and Edinburgh. This course invites you to explore the social and historical contexts behind literary classics like Beowulf, Dracula, Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Harry Potter.
You'll deepen your appreciation for how great artists have interpreted these myths and legends while visiting the British Library, the British Museum, and the Scottish National Gallery. Get ready for thrilling adventures as you uncover the darker side of British culture with a Jack the Ripper tour, a visit to the dungeons of the Tower of London, and a ghost walk through the haunted streets of Edinburgh. Plus, immerse yourself in the world of Shakespeare by experiencing one of his tragedies at the Globe Theatre.

Beyond the Bedside: Biomedical Ethics and Global Health Perspectives

As you visit iconic sites like St. Giles' Cathedral, St. Paul's Cathedral, and vibrant Chinatown, you'll immerse yourself in the cities' cultures. Engage with history at the Science Museum, the Old Operating Theatre, and the Florence Nightingale Museum, and explore the poignant stories at Highgate Cemetery and the Dover War Tunnels.
