Course Description:
Death! Destruction! Dungeons! Murder in White Chapel, torture in the Tower, and bombing during the Blitz, London has no shortage of evil stories to tell. This course delves into the dark side of London and explores the manifestations of evil in society. From the monstrous institutions of slavery, colonization, and war to the social evils of oppression, domination, inequality, classism, racism, sexism, xenophobia, and corruption to evil social actions such as toxic contamination, terrorism, and violent crime, evil takes many forms. Don't underestimate the power of the dark side. This course is an upper division elective in Sociology and Criminology.

Prerequisites:
Students should have completed an Introduction to Sociology course
