Mr. Shaw holds a B.A. in music, speech and theatre from Heidleberg College, an M.A. in theatre from Bowling Green State University, and an M.F.A. in design from Northwestern University. He has worked as a set, lighting, and costume designer for such theatres as: Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati, Artreach Touring Theatre, Charlotte Repertory Theatre, and the Children's Theatre of Charlotte. Mr. Shaw has designed a great number of world premieres. Mr. Shaw is currently the Production Manager and Stage Manger for the Cincinnati Men’s Chorus. Mr. Shaw has designed scenery for a variety of shows at Northern. He is currently Northern Kentucky University’s School of the Arts Associate Director.

Course Description:
Discover the thrilling world of London and explore English culture through professional theatre. Students will experience a diverse range of current productions from the classics to the cutting edge and will examine cultural trends and social issues through the lens of the theatre. The influence of English history will come alive as students visit theatres, museums, historic sites (e.g., Stratford on Avon, the National Theatre, the Globe Theatre, Westminster Abbey, and more), and attend 4-5 notable and dynamic theatre productions. Group discussions will be a vital part of class time in London and guests from the field will visit the class on location.

None

Physical Activity Requirements:
The ability to walk 2-4 miles a day; the ability to remain quiet and still for up to 3 hours in a performance; the concentration to fully appreciate guest speakers, class discussions, and tour guides
